The history of rose growing in Isparta District goes back to the years of 1900-1923. It was A trader named Ismail Efendi, son of Mehmet İzzet Efendi who is son of Meydan Bey from Yalvaç District of Isparta, tried to grow roses in an area of 300,000 square feet and also tried to produce rose oil. The most significant factor in rose growing is to be able to produce rose oil from the roses you grow.

Rose Damascena, also known as Isparta District Rose, is primary type of rose used in rose growing. Harvested only once a year in May, Rose Damascena yields 3 to 9 flowers. Rose Damascena, which could be cultivated only in a few regions of the world, can easily grow in Isparta District of Turkey thanks to its suitable climate characteristics like rainfall, humidity, sunlight, etc.It is Rose Damascena type of rose which is highly preferred in terms of rose oil yieldance. The harvest of Rose Damascena in Isparta District of Turkey takes from mid-May to mid-June. The flowers of roses are picked from rosaries one by one early in the morning even before the sunrise due to the oil quality and taken to our facility (Gülhane). 4 tones of rose flower yield 1 kg of rose oil.

The roses collected in rose oil plants are spread to the ground and held for 6 hours for the detillation process. The hot water vapor of the heaters passes through the corrugated pipes under the distillation boilers and boils the water in the boiler.
